Internet Dating Tips For Women

Alright, you’ve just started using an online dating service and you’re hoping to find some internet dating tips for women to help you succeed.  You want this process to work out and your hoping to avoid some of the pitfalls that other women will succumb to.

Internet Dating Tips for WomenAs I’ve stated in previous postings, make sure you’ve taken the time to fill out your dating profile correctly.  You need a great (and recent) picture of yourself, a good dating headline, and you need to make sure you’ve put a ton of time into crafting your online dating profile.  Of all the internet dating tips for women that are out there, this last paragraph lists the things you need to focus on first and foremost.

Now that you’ve taken the time to get those all those important details straightened out, here are some other internet dating tips for women that you should pay attention to.

1. Protect Your Privacy–This is the most important of all internet dating tips for women. Make sure not to give out your personal email address, your cell phone number, or your residence until you’re completely comfortable doing so.  Don’t assume the guy that you’re starting to make conversation with is a good guy.  There are a lot of creeps out there and it’s important to protect yourself.  As you get to know someone and it feels right to give some of that info out, then do it but please don’t rush through this step.

2. Spell it Out Up Front, NO MARRIED MEN–If you’re looking for a relationship online, make sure to avoid the married men who are just out there looking for extra curricular activities outside of their marriage.  This is a dead end road and one you should nip in advance.  There’s no need to mess around with someone involved in a committed relationship, it doesn’t end up well for anyone.  This is one of the internet dating tips for women that I wish would get followed more often.  In most cases, these guys aren’t going to leave their wives.

3. Don’t Lie About Your Appearance–This is one of the internet dating tips for women that is the most difficult to follow.  You may not be in love with how you look, but it is what it is and you can’t change it.  It doesn’t help you to lie about it because at some point in your online relationship you’re going to have to meet in person.  You might as well be up front about everything because the lies will come back to haunt you.

4. Keep Sex Out of Early Discussions–If you’re looking to hook up with a guy, disregard this. If you’re looking for a relationship than I suggest you take heed.  Once you introduce sexually explicit conversation into a discusion you can’t take it back.  Guys see this as an invitation to move forward. This is the trickiest of internet dating tips for women but just remember, most men won’t initiate sexually explicit conversation on their own.  They are waiting from a sign from the lady that it’s ok to be introduced.

5. Play Hard to Get–Guys are looking for women who play a little hard to get.  They want to feel like they’ve accomplished something but getting you involved in conversation with them.  Wait before responding back to their email or instant message.  It accomplishes two things, it keeps you from looking desperate and it makes them work harder to get in touch with you. This is one of the internet dating tips for women that is hard to follow because human nature tells us to respond immediately.

6. Don’t Be in a Rush to Share Everything–One thing that’s a turn off for guys is information overload.  They want to learn about you but they don’t want to hear your life story right up front.  You need to find a way to slow down the amount of information you want to share with them into small and manageable doses.  Give them too much information too early and odds are you’ll push them away. Don’t overlook the last of these internet dating tips.

Hopefully you found these six internet dating tips for women helpful.  These are just a few you need to keep in mind as you continue your search for Mr. Right. ~Mac

Dating Headlines That Work

Trying to compose and develop dating headlines that work in your online dating profile is  not a simple task for many people.  It’s difficult to compose a headline that will entice interested singles to check out more about your profile.

Think back to newspaper articles that draw you in.  What is the one item that catches your interest?  Generally it’s the title or headline that the editor has slapped on top of the featured story.  In many newspapers, the column writer does not get to write their own headline.  It’s done by someone whose job is specifically composing these titles for articles.  If paid journalists struggle with this task, imagine the difficulty for the average working Joe when trying to write dating headlines that work for their online profiles.

Dating Headlines That WorkOne thing that we aren’t taught to do well from youth is to sell ourselves.  It’s always engrained in us that it is best to be humble and to let our actions and deeds speak for us.  It’s looked down upon to boast about ourselves or to detail for friends, family, and people unknown to us everything that we’ve done or accomplished.  Writing dating headlines that work goes against the grain for many of us.

What one needs to keep in mind when joining an online dating site is that we need to advertise to all who we are and what we have to offer.  We’ve got to be secure enough to know what traits of ours are most endearing and we need to broadcast them to the world. This is a difficult task for many people and writing dating headlines that work is the first part of this difficult process.

Just like that newspaper article we were first talking about we need to be cognizant of the importance our headline plays for us.  When scrolling through a list of profiles, there are three things someone sees.  They see our username, our profile picture, and our dating headline.  All three are very important and it’s vital to make sure each one is chosen correctly. We can’t control the way we look but by writing dating headlines that work will help to draw interested singles into our profile to learn more about us.

I am a big fan of keeping things direct and to the point.  Research shows that you have somewhere between 3 and 5 seconds to catch someone’s attention.  When writing dating headlines that work it’s important to keep it to a maximum of 5-7 words.  You want things to be short and to the point.  Draw people in to the point that they want to learn more.

Use action words that are descriptive when writing your dating headlines that work. These words need to create a mental image about who you are and what you have to offer.  You want to paint a picture for your desired reader and you want to make it enticing enough for them to click through into your profile to find out a bit more about you.

Keep things positive and whenever possible try to incorporate some of your hobbies into writing dating headlines that work.  If you like riding your motorcycle, find a clever way to put that into your headline.  Do you enjoy long walks on the beach (I know, it sounds very cliche, but if that’s one of your interests, go with it)? Do you like to sit and small talk over a bottle of wine?  Do you have a favorite song lyric that sums up your view on life?

Writing dating headlines that work is something you need to put some thought and effort into but don’t let it consume you.  Personalize it as best you can and don’t be afraid to change it up from time to time. If you don’t think you’re getting enough nibbles to your profile, write a new one, post it, and see if it performs any better over the next week to 10 days.
