Latest Ashley Madison Advertising Scheme

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

I was browsing around a website earlier today and the page I was on contained a link to some video. While the video I was hoping to see was downloading, an advertisement started playing. It was an ad for Ashley Madison, the online dating service for married people. I’m not one who’s easily shocked, but for some reason I thought this ad was just a wee bit over the top.

What are you’re thoughts?

Ashley Madison and Howard Stern?

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

After taking a break over the holidays, Howard Stern returned to the airwaves on Monday announcing his newest contest, the Tiger Woods Mistress Beauty Pageant. The contest is open to any of the women who have had a proven relationship with Woods that’s been documented in the media.

The pageant will be run in two parts, with the contestants being judged in their bathing suits (preferably two piece) as well as a personality interview. I’m guessing the better their Woods story, the better they’ll be evaluated.

Why would these women enter this contest? Stern is hoping the cash prize of $100,000 will be enough to entice them. A few of them have already accepted much less to share their stories with the print media.

The cash prize is courtesy of online dating site Ashley Madison, who caters specifically to married couple looking for an affair. As their company slogan says, “Life’s short, have an affair.”

As he was announcing the sponsor of this competition, Stern suggested that if Woods had used

Ashley Madison, he might have been able to avoid much of the relationship mess that he has fallen into. By dating married women, Woods may have avoided having his infidelity leak into the public because married women have just as much to lose when having their affairs and tend to keep quiet.

Stern announced that the pageant will only proceed if he is able to get three confirmed mistresses to participate.

Call me crazy, but I could see this thing happening. If so, it’s would be a big event and I think it would end up being real cheap advertising for Ashley Madison.

Let me know what you’re thinking,

Ashley Madison in the News

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Eliot SpitzerIt seems for some people that when it rains, it pours. In case you missed it, former New York State Governor Eliot Spitzer was reported in the New York Times as being a client in a prostitution ring that was under investigation by the federal government. Spitzer was forced to resign from his post following immense public pressure.

Spitzer is reported to have spent over $80,000 on prostitutes during his tenure as first New York State Attorney General and then as Governor. To compound Spitzer’s problem, he was also married with three children.

Never missing a chance for some free PR, online dating site Ashley Madison took out a full page newspaper ad in the New York Post to capitalize on Spitzer’s misfortune. Ashley Madison is an online dating site that caters to married couples looking to have a discreet affair (click here for our review). The website bills itself as the place to go when “monogamy turns into monotony.”

The ad, made out to look like an email to Spitzer and copied to New York State, states that “fooling around with ‘professionals’ is bound to get you into hot water.” It goes on to further state that “we hate to say we told you so. Approaching an affair the wrong way is always a recipe for disaster … We’re all of the fun and none of the trouble. …No headlines, no scandals.”

Advice that Spitzer probably could have used…..
