For free you get…

Date.com grants full access to member profiles when you first sign up. You are able to read everything in the profile, as well as view all of the photos in their photo albums. You even have the ability to flirt with other members, but that’s as far as you can go.

To be able to use the more interactive features of the site (chat, instant message, or email contact) you will need to upgrade to a paid membership.

Established in 1997, Date.com has gone through quite a transformation as the industry has evolved. Date.com purchased Matchmaker.com in 2006, and you find the same interface and membership base being used with both companies.

There is a ton of info at your finger tips when you log in. It tells you how many people are online, if there are any new members in your area, as well as if you have any messages awaiting you.

One odd thing is that the “featured members” listed on the home page aren’t tailored to your zip code. It’s kind of bizarre to see a featured member that lives over 500 miles away?

As a member, you also get access to Dateinfo.com, which is an online dating and advice magazine. This webzine (is that a word?) is a plus. It contains professionally written content which contains some really useful tips and information.

Date.com also has a detailed “essay-type” questionnaire for new members to fill out. It gives you an opportunity to really individualize your profile and it gives you a great chance to let everyone know what you have to offer.
